Optical Character Recognition

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is a great tool for any facility’s document management solution.

Whenever you scan in a document, it’s saved as an image file, the same as a picture taken on a camera. This means you have an image of the text, but the database cannot make use of its content. Traditionally, a data entry operator would read the document and enter it into a database. This approach costs a business time and money. OCR can simply create a text or PDF file by reading the content of the page and interpreting it. This allows you to have sortable, searchable files in a fraction of the time.

Scan-Optics’ scan.forward™ line of production scanners offers post-process OCR software. These include multi-font recognition to insure that your company can quickly process a variety of documents. Our software also has optional constrained hand print recognition. This means that even hand-written notes within designated text boxes can be recognized!

OCR can greatly expedite a company’s operations. We at Scan-Optics are constantly looking for better ways to enhance our clients’ businesses. This means offering the best scanner hardware—and software—possible.

The first step to winning is optimizing your data.
