July 6, 2016
Manchester, CT 23rd June, 2014 – Scan-Optics Becomes Official DPO Vendor to the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE). MHBE works alongside the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Maryland Insurance Administration, Department of Human Resources, and state wide stakeholders to establish the Maryland Health Connection. The services they provide aid Maryland residents in their search for insurance coverage that is right for them. The main priority of the MHBE project is to give the more than 800,000 currently uninsured residents to access affordable healthcare packages via a web-based exchange portal.
Maryland Health Benefits Exchange, working on an accelerated schedule, will be processing thousands of documents on a monthly basis. Starting immediately, Scan-Optics will be providing MHBE with innovative, robust and efficient document processing operations, as well as the secure facilities they need. This partnership will allow MHBE to service the variety of claims, requests, and applications of all their clients in a timely, cost effective manner.
Scan-Optics’ DPO organization received the second-largest one-year contract awarded to date. As of this July, they were contracted by Maryland Health Benefit Exchange board for $850,000. According to the exchange board Chairman Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, Scan-Optics services are “completely integrated” into the technology that was first used for Connecticut’s exchange and are now being implemented in Maryland. In addition to document processing, Scan-Optics will be providing barcoding services in order to verify secure documents that consumers upload to the exchange system.
The State of Maryland will now have the capability to provide its residents with the best service and advice available in the industry. Scan-Optics and MHBE look forward to collaborating on and executing this project.
